underneath we are all the same

Here is an interaction with my 11 year old autistic daughter:

My 11 year old autistic daughter to me when I picked her up all happy and giggly from social skills group today: "Thank God for Autism". 

Me: "What makes you say that?" 

Her: "I'm so happy I have it!" 

I told her that yes, it was part of what makes her special and unique and she said: "Yes but underneath we are all the same".  

Yeah for positive self image and self advocacy!!
